A Metarie woman accused of killing her infant was brutally beaten unconcious in a Gretna jail last week. Ciara Craig, 21, was hospitalized and received six stitches to her forehead after an inmate kicked her on the ground Friday. Craig is being held under $500,000 bond and charged with second-degree murder. Authorities said she gave birth Feb. 10 to a girl in her home, then drove to Kenner's Laketown park and placed the baby in the water.
